What Does Video Production Cost in Vancouver?

Real numbers, real ranges, and what actually drives the price of a video project.

The question everyone asks (and nobody answers)

If you've been researching video production companies in Vancouver, you've probably noticed a pattern. Everyone says "it depends" and nobody gives you a number.

It does depend. But you still deserve a real answer, so here it is: most of our projects start around $10K for smaller, simpler videos. Larger projects with a full creative package and multiple deliverables usually land between $50K and $100K.

That's a wide range, so let's break down what actually moves the number.

What drives the cost of a video project

A video budget is really just a list of decisions. Here are the ones that matter most:

  • Creative development - Concepts, scripts, and storyboards. A scripted commercial with actors takes more development than a documentary-style brand video.
  • Shoot days - This is the biggest lever. Every shoot day means crew, gear, and logistics. A one-day shoot keeps things lean. A campaign with multiple locations and setups needs more days.
  • Talent and locations - Professional actors, location fees, and permits all add real costs. Some projects need none of it. Some need all of it.
  • Deliverables - One hero video is one thing. A hero video plus cutdowns, social versions, and platform-specific exports is another. More deliverables means more time in post.
  • Post-production complexity - Motion graphics, colour grading, sound design, and revision rounds all live here.

Rough ranges to plan around

  • Around $10K - A focused single video. Lean crew, one shoot day, simple post. Think a testimonial video, an event recap, or a single brand piece.
  • $20K to $50K - A proper commercial or brand video with creative development, talent, and a handful of deliverables.
  • $50K to $100K - Full campaign packages. Multiple shoot days, casting, original creative, and a complete set of deliverables for TV, web, and social.

If you need ongoing social content rather than a one-off project, our SocialVera subscription starts around $2-3K per month. Different tool, different job.

One thing we don't spend your money on: unnecessary gear. The difference between a $4K camera and a $90K camera is nearly invisible on screen. The difference between a good idea and a generic one is everything. We put budget where it shows.

How to get the most out of your budget

Tell us your actual budget. We know it feels like a negotiating disadvantage. It isn't. A real number lets us design the best possible project for it, instead of guessing and quoting something that misses.

Batch your deliverables. If we're already on location with a crew, capturing material for three more videos costs far less than coming back three more times. One well-planned shoot can feed your channels for months.

Plan campaigns, not one-offs. The brands getting the best value from video think in seasons and launches, not single videos.
