The Challenge
Introduce a new brand line—and make people care.
Westland Insurance was ready to roll out “Coverage That Goes Further,” but needed more than a tagline reveal. They wanted a full campaign that could make a splash across Canada, win attention on social, and still land with heart. The catch? No internal creative team and a tight timeline. They needed a partner who could think big, move fast, and deliver standout creative from the ground up.
The Ask
Launch a New Tagline with Impact
Westland Insurance came to us with a clear mission: bring their new tagline—“Coverage That Goes Further”—to life through a series of fun, memorable video ads. They were about to kick off a new campaign and needed scroll-stopping video content for TV and social. The twist? They had no in-house creative team to develop or produce it.
That’s where we stepped in—concept to delivery.
Why Us?
Because We Love a Blank Canvas
Westland chose NoraVera because we don’t just shoot—we build ideas. They needed someone to own the creative from day one, from writing and storyboarding to casting, location scouting, and shooting. We handled everything: scripts, dog actors, practical effects, permits—you name it.
Our Approach: Relatable, Funny, and (Insurance) Friendly
Core Concept
Create a short, quirky series of ads where everyday mishaps highlight the need for home and auto coverage. Think leaky ceilings, runaway golf balls, and chaotic driveways—each ending with a wink to Westland’s tagline.
Creative Evolution
We pitched a few directions, but leaned into the idea of a relatable family facing mini-crises. The goal was to balance humour with heart, while subtly communicating how Westland has your back.
Directing & Inspiration
Jon Flahr (our founder/director) led the charge creatively and on-set. We took cues from absurdist humour in car commercials, but made it feel lived-in, familiar, and fun.

Behind the Scenes: Dogs, Dents, & Practical Effects
Locations & Scale
Two houses. One street in New West. A 15+ person crew. Three actors. One very good dog named Huey (Jon’s real-life dog making his on-screen debut).
On-Set Stories
Car Golf Fail: For the spot where a golf ball “breaks” a car window, we used VFX and a clever open-window trick. After several takes, Jon misfired and actually dented the car. Oops.
Fake Ceilings, Real Leaks
Our art director built a custom ceiling insert with a light fixture and rigged it to simulate a gross water leak. Totally practical. Totally effective.
The Result?
High Fives All Around
Westland rolled out the campaign across TV and social media, with strong engagement and positive audience feedback. Internally, they loved the concepts and execution, and had minimal notes during post. (That’s always a good sign.)
