The Challenge?

Metro Vancouver needed to recruit top-tier talent and build internal culture at the same time.

The Ask?

Create content that showcases what it actually feels like to work there — not with glossy slogans or stock footage, but through authentic, human stories.

Why NoraVera?

They came to NoraVera because that’s our wheelhouse:

Real people. Real stories. Really well told.

Interview First. Story Second.

Rather than following the typical "day-in-the-life" formula, we flipped the process.

  1. Stage 1: Deep-dive interviews
We brought each subject into our studio and filmed conversational, unscripted interviews — uncovering meaningful, surprising, and deeply personal reasons why they love their work.

  2. Stage 2: Story-first filming
After editing rough assemblies of each interview, we shaped our shooting plans around the best parts of their stories. This let us film B-roll that directly supported the themes we uncovered — not generic footage, but visuals that actually say something.

The result: Every vignette felt intentional, cinematic, and rooted in each person’s lived experience.

Beyond the Office

Filming took us all over Metro Vancouver, from office towers to the pristine wilderness of the North Shore Watershed — a protected area that’s off-limits to the public.

  • We followed Heather, a Metro Vancouver ecologist, deep into the watershed where she monitors wildlife.
  • We spotted a black bear walking the roadside — calm, undisturbed, and completely at home in a place untouched by public foot traffic.
  • Meanwhile, we bounced back downtown to shoot with another subject in an urban office setting — two wildly different stories in one shoot day.

Small crew. Big access. Wild moments.

Post Production: Built on Authenticity

Editing focused on tone, pacing, and clarity — keeping things emotional but not cheesy, polished but not overproduced.
Each video was structured around a clear narrative arc, using voice-first storytelling with beautiful, purposeful visuals to support it.

We skipped the fluff. We told the truth. That’s what made it resonate.

The Outcome

Metro Vancouver was thrilled.
The videos now live on their careers and internal culture pages, acting as cornerstone content for recruitment campaigns.

They’ve been used to:

  • Attract skilled candidates
  • Reinforce company values
  • Show how meaningful the work really is
Takeaways
  • Pre-interviewing allowed us to discover gold before shooting a single frame of B-roll
  • Giving time for story development made the entire production more intentional
  • Authenticity trumps polish when it comes to employee engagement content

We didn’t just film people doing their jobs — we helped Metro Vancouver show why those jobs matter.

That’s what makes people hit apply.

“These stories helped us say what we couldn’t capture in words alone.”
